The Elephant Discovery Center, located in downtown Hohenwald, offers hands-on self-guided exhibits and educational programming that explores the many ways elephants shape our world. Drop-in visitors are welcome, but please call ahead or email to schedule a field trip for your class or group. There are no elephants on display at The Elephant Discovery Center.

The Elephant Discovery Center is an educational outreach center operated by The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee. Founded in 1995, The Elephant Sanctuary in Tennessee is the nation’s largest natural-habitat refuge developed specifically around the needs of endangered Asian and African elephants. The Sanctuary is a 501©3 not-for-profit organization, licensed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture and the Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency, accredited by the Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries, and certified by the Association of Zoos and Aquariums. All resident elephants are retired from lives of exhibition or performance.
